Tetterton Law Firm has been defending people charged with crimes and traffic offenses in Carteret County since 2009. Criminal and traffic law has always been the firm’s primary focus, and today it is the only work the firm takes on. Over the years, that focus has sharpened, and the result is a practice built entirely around one thing: representing people accused of crimes and traffic violations in North Carolina.
Over more than fifteen years, the firm has represented thousands of people. Many of them arrived at the first meeting scared, overwhelmed, and unsure of what was about to happen to their life. The Tetterton Law Firm is here to ease those fears.

Located Where It Matters
Since 2012, the firm has operated out of 313 Turner Street in Beaufort, directly across the street from the front door of the Carteret County Courthouse. Being steps from the courthouse means Josh is there every day, working with the same judges, prosecutors, and court staff, and handling cases as they move. There’s no commuting in from another county, no unfamiliarity with how things work in this particular courthouse. The firm is here, and it has been for a long time.
Josh and Deanna Tetterton
Josh Tetterton grew up in Carteret County, went to law school, and came home to practice. He has been representing clients in Carteret County District and Superior Court since 2008, handling everything from traffic infractions and speeding tickets to DWI cases, misdemeanors, and serious felonies. He is in court almost every single day. That volume of courtroom experience, built entirely in one county over nearly two decades, is what he brings to every case.
Deanna Tetterton is a lifelong Carteret County resident and a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal. She manages the day-to-day operations of the firm and is the primary point of contact for clients throughout their case. When clients call or have questions, they reach Deanna, someone who knows their file and can give them a real answer.
Together, Josh and Deanna run a firm that is small by design. Every client is a person with a real problem, not a number in a queue.
